While boat shopping in the Grand Bazaar for new types of wooden hulls, I came across a wood dealer who had a glass eye and a silver tongue. We talked for hours about travel and food and he invited me over to dine with him and his wife. As the wine flowed, we prepared dinner, when I noticed he was out of countertop space for chopping and slicing. Being the resourceful sailor that I am, I pulled an extra piece of sapele I was using at the Bazaar to show what wood I was looking for and laid it on the table.
This sapele serving tray is large and in charge with big cleat handles and strips of maple accenting the surface. Best used for large dinner parties or serving groups of 6 or more.
